However, you can still get that old My Computer icon back on Windows 10 desktop.

Easy Steps to Add Icon for My Computer in Windows 10 Desktop

We know where to find “My Computer” in Windows 10. And, we don’t want you to go on a difficult path just to get to My Computer.

There’s a shortcut. You can add the My Computer icon on your Windows 10 desktop.

Here’s how it’s done.

  • Right-click on the empty space on the desktop
  • Click on Personalize from the drop-down menu
  • A new window for Personalization settings opens
  • Click on Themes
  • Select the “ Go to desktop icon settings ” link on right-side pane
  • Tick the checkbox against Computer and enable it
  • Click on OK , and then on Apply to confirm these changes

Remember, what used to My Computer in earlier Windows versions is now “This PC” in Windows 10.

If you don’t want to read the icon’s name as “This PC”, Windows 10 has the option of renaming it. The method is simple.

  • Select the “ This PC ” icon with a single click
  • Right-click on it to open the drop-down menu
  • Choose “ Rename
  • Change the name to “ My Computer ” or any other name you want

Now that you’ve renamed “This PC”, Windows 10 finally displays the exact “My Computer” icon on your desktop.
