Erick is a 28 year old singer and songwriter born in Tijuana, Baja California. This was announced by the ex-member of the ‘Grupo Codiciado’.
Mexico is a nation celebrated for many reasons, particularly for its vibrant diversity and exceptional talent in regional music. Many of these artists are acquainted and often form close bonds, though not every connection ends on a positive note.
Such is the story of Eduin Caz and Erick Aragón, two vocalists who were once inseparable but now avoid crossing paths at all costs. Aragón gained recognition in the industry as a former member of the well-known “Grupo Codiciado,” captivating audiences for over six years.
“It was a collective decision. In a band, there are many voices, and ideas start clashing. It’s been a tough journey for me, building the project’s image. Changes are always good, but we each handle them differently. Now, we’re all pursuing our own paths, and I’m not slowing down,” Aragón shared with Noroeste about his departure.
Erick Aragón Teams Up with Natanael Cano for a New Album
Last October, Erick Aragón revealed he was working on a collaboration with Natanael Cano, the self-proclaimed pioneer of “corridos tumbados.” In a recent interview with Bandamax, Aragón provided more details, mentioning he was in Mexico City to record the track with Cano.
“I’m here in Mexico City, working on some productions with Natanael Cano. I also came to shop and explore—the city’s amazing,” Aragón said.
What can fans anticipate from this dynamic duet? Aragón disclosed that the song, recorded in November, blends guitars with a modern beat. He also met with Cano in Mexico City to shoot the music video. The track won’t be part of Aragón’s solo debut but will feature on Cano’s upcoming album.
As for his own project, Aragón is refining unfinished songs from his time with “Grupo Codiciado” to include in his solo record.
Who Is Erick Aragón?
Erick, a 28-year-old singer-songwriter from Tijuana, Baja California, co-founded “Grupo Codiciado” in 2015 with Alexis Cañez, Iván Ramírez, Arturo Núñez, and Geovanny Rodríguez. They rose to fame with their debut album’s hit “Gente de accionar” from “Si lo digo es porque puedo.” After his initial success, Aragón ventured into trap, blending it with corridos to create “trap corrido,” a style he’s now known for.
What Drove a Wedge Between Aragón and Eduin Caz?
The last joint effort between the “Grupo Codiciado” frontman and “Grupo Firme” was the song “Gracias.” Once friends, their relationship soured due to misunderstandings and perceived disrespect. The Tijuana native has expressed no desire to rekindle ties with Caz.
How’s the Rift with Eduin Caz Going?
Aragón also touched on his strained bond with Eduin Caz, the lead of “Grupo Firme.” Though they hadn’t spoken in a while, recent interactions hint at a thaw. A mutual friend facilitated one such moment.
“I was driving my Lamborghini when this guy calls via FaceTime. I glance at the phone, and it’s Eduin saying, ‘Tell him to stop being mad,’” Aragón recounted.
Another time, during a drunken moment, Aragón called Caz while he was getting a tattoo. “We greeted each other and cleared up some things,” he said.
Their relationship seems to be on the mend. Aragón recently reached out through intermediaries to check on Caz after rumors of a car accident, showing concern despite their past.
