USB (Universal Serial Bus) device is the most preferred choice to transfer data and files from one system to another. USB has many types like- memory card, pen drive, USB flash drive, etc.

The Fast startup feature is to make the computer to start or hibernate faster. This feature may make your system to function so quick that Windows cannot identify the USB device and result in device descriptor failure error. Follow the below steps to turn off the fast startup:

  • Open the Run dialog box by pressing Windows + R key simultaneously
  • In the Search box type “Control” and hit OK. It opens the Control panel

  • To open the Run dialog box, press and hold Windows key + R key together.
  • Type Devmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Device Manager
  • Search and click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers to enlarge it

4. Update the Driver Generic USB Hub software

It is the easiest solution to solve the device descriptor request failed error. Follow the instructions below:

  • Hold Windows + R key together to open the Run command.
  • Type devmgmt.msc in the dialog box and hit enter. It opens the Device manager
  • Search for Universal Serial Bus. Now, click and expand it
  • Right-click on the Generic USB Hub icon and choose the Update Driver Software
