In one of his songs, Steven Wilson (singer, songwriter from the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree) sings, ‘God is on the net’. And those words strike a chord with the infinite array of possibilities the internet provides.
All social media platforms are great but if video is your focus, there’s nothing as popular as YouTube.
You can find an endless variety of content on YouTube, and what’s best is that the site (and the mobile app) provides you with the option of curating, collecting, organizing and sharing multiple content in a very easy manner through Playlists.
For start-ups, musicians or even bloggers, YouTube playlists are a blessing! Neither of those and just a casual YouTube user? The playlist function makes listening to your favorite tracks and sharing them with friends and family so much more convenient and fun.
Here you can read and learn in details about how to create a playlist on YouTube , edit YouTube playlist and how to share a YouTube playlist on a website or with your friends in simple easy steps!
How to Make a Playlist on YouTube?
YouTube Playlists make life much easier for avid users as they don’t need to search and individually play their favourite items once they’ve created the list. You can make playlists on every YouTube platform, be it the web, android or IOS.
The steps elaborated here refer to creating YouTube playlist on the YouTube website that opens on your computer. So, if you have found the video around which you would want to create a playlist, follow these steps!
Step 1: First, search for the video you want to add to your YouTube playlist
Step 2: From the list of videos, click on the three dots at the right side of the video result and select “ Add to Playlist ” option
Step 3: From the drop down menu, select ‘ + Create new playlist ’.
Step 4: Type in the name you’d like for your playlist in the pop-up box that appears.
Step 5: The second thing the pop-up box asks is your preferred privacy setting. Click on the tiny down arrow on the bottom right corner.
Step 6: The Privacy Setting allows you to select between three options-
Public:
This setting allows anyone on YouTube who looks at your profile or with access to the YouTube link to view the playlist.
The playlist can also appear in YouTube search results. For e.g., if you name the playlist, vacation ideas, and someone on searches something similar, your playlist might show up in the searches.
This is a good option if you want more traffic to your channel or don’t mind sharing your collection with the pubic.
Unlisted:
This option lets you stop your playlist from coming up in public searches or being visible on your channel for people who visit.
It is only visible to individuals with whom you share the direct link. Select this option if you would want the viewership of the playlist to be at your discretion.
Private/Hidden:
As the title suggests, this setting makes the playlist invisible to the world, except yourself. Even if anyone gets access to a direct link to this, the contents of the playlist will stay hidden.
This option is recommended if you are creating a private list for your eyes only.
Once you have decided how private (or not) you want the playlist to be, click on your preferred option.
Step 7: Click on Create once you are happy with the customization for playlist title and privacy settings.
And voila! Your first YouTube playlist has been created! You can access this under ‘Library’ which you can open by clicking on the menu bars at the top left corner of the page.
