Are you setting up a router for your home or workplace for the first time? Wondering what IP address is about?

The router is a widely used networking device mainly used to provide the internet Wi-Fi connection in home and offices. For those who don’t know, every router has its IP address by default. For example: or or, etc.

If you’re setting up your router for the first time, you’ll need to use login address, with the default username and password.

2. Login to Linksys Router using IP

Linksys has a series of popular network routers and has as their default IP address. You can quickly log in to the Linksys Router using www. IP address.

Follow the steps mentioned below to use the Linksys Router Admin.

  • Open your web browser and type or click on this link in the URL bar
  • You need to enter the default username and password which is admin-admin or admin-pass
  • Once it’s done, you can now access the Router admin page
  • You can also change your router’s password from the Settings menu

3. Login to Netgear Router using IP Address

  • Connect Netgear router with your PC
  • Open your browser and type 168.1.1 in the URL bar
  • You’ll need to enter the default username and password
  • Now, you can go to the Wireless Settings icon and customize settings

You have now successfully logged in to your Netgear router.

Here are some of the common reasons why the setup procedure is failing:

  • Your PC and its browser has failed to join the network
  • The router is set up to use some other address instead of
  • Your router has failed and has become unresponsive to the connection through the browser

1. Reboot Your Router

2. Double Check The IP With IPCONFIG

Follow the steps mentioned below to find out the default IP address for your router.

  • Go to the Start menu
  • Type CommandPrompt and tap on it from the list of results
  • Now in the Command Prompt window, type IPCONFIG and hit the Enter key
  • Find for Default Gateway from the confusing list of options

The gateway address is the default IP address of your router. All you need to do is type this particular IP address in the URL bar to log in to the router.

3. Reset Your Router

If none of the above solutions work for you, you’ll have to reset your router. Before resetting your browser, please make sure that you know your default administrative ID and password.

There is a reset button on every router, press it until the router resets itself.
