Intex Technologies much popular in IT hardware and electronics products is decide a target of generating Rs. 1,000 crore turnover in 2012-13. In 2011-12, the company’s turnover was Rs. 779 crore. It had set an “ambitious target of becoming a Rs. 1,000 crore company in FY 2012-13,” Intex General Manager (Mobile Business) Sanjay Kumar.
The firm aims to sell 60,000 tablets this year, he said while announcing the regional launch of the Intex i-Buddy tablet running on Android operating system.
“We want to sell 3.6 lakh handsets and 60,000 tablets this year. We will be launching our 3G tablet in August,” says sanjay kumar Intex General Manager (Mobile Business) in press confernce.
The company is aiming for revenues of Rs. 400 crore from the mobile business in FY 2012-13 and expects 15 percent of revenue to come from south Indian markets.
“South India is one of the largest markets for technology products with 26 percent of India’s mobiles being sold here. It is definitely a potential market for Intex as well,” he added.
On today’s launch, Kumar said i-Buddy comes with a 1GHz processor, a front camera and Wi-Fi among others and is priced at Rs. 6,490. It also has a seven inch touch screen.
