We know the importance of social bookmarking. Ever thought of creating one for yourself, just like Digg. Well you can develop a social bookmarking site for yourself using Pligg platform. I mean you can even create it on wordpress, joomla or just any other CMS, but Pligg is somewhat friendly in creating such sites. In this article I will tell you how to install Pligg.
First of all download Pligg from here and extract the files.
Now create a mysql database using your c-Panel. if you have any problem doing this, then do read this :-

Now rename the following files :-
- /language/lang_english.conf.default
- bannedips.txt.default
- settings.php.default
- local-antispam.txt.default
- /libs/dbconnect.php.default
Now upload your files to the server.
After uploading files change file permissions of the following files/folders :-
CHMOD 755 for the following files/folders
- /admin/backup/
- /avatars/groups_uploaded/
- /avatars/user_uploaded/
- /cache/
- /cache/admin_c/
- /cache/templates_c/
- /languages/ (And all of the files contained in this folder should be CHMOD 777)
CHMOD 666 for the following files/folders
- /libs/dbconnect.php
- bannedips.txt
- settings.php
- local-antispam.txt
Now go to www.your-site-name/install/index.php and follow the instructions.
After successful installation do the following :-
- Delete your /install folder.
- CHMOD 644 libs/dbconnect.php
Well that was it. You have successfully installed Pligg on your domain and now you can customize it according to your needs.
