Last month Facebook announced the coming launch of their App Center to iOS, a dedicated section to allow users to download apps for the social network. At the time Facebook encouraged developers to create their ‘app detail page’ prior to the launch of App Center. but The Facebook App Center is live on an iPhone - somewhere. Facebook said it is testing its new App Center feature with some users, after screenshots of the service showed up on TechCrunch.Users have started sending in images of App Center and its implementation into the Facebook iOS app. App installs appear on the left sidebar under a separate titled section.
“Since we announced the App Center to developers last month, we’ve been testing it with a small percentage of users. We have no further details to share at this time,” a Facebook spokesperson said.According to the report, TechCruch received a screenshot from an iPhone-using reader who is seeing it live already. The new feature was expected to go live soon, possibly tonight at a press event in San Francisco, but these screenshots are a first glimpse at a potentially live app center.
Facebook announced its new service in early May by asking developers to submit images and copy for Facebook’s consideration, and said it planned to roll out the center in coming weeks. The center will push the best social apps to you based on your Facebook behavior. The Facebook iPhone experience should at least match or exceed the web experience.Currently, there are more than 200 apps integrated with Facebook, and each has more than 1 million active users.
